About Tanie & Sarah

Getting to know us

Still Standing is a raw and real podcast about love, loss, and finding a way forward when life shatters.

Tanie and Sarah are two widows, two mothers, and now—two best friends—brought together by unimaginable loss and an unshakable bond.

Tanie’s husband, Nick, was murdered in a tragic and violent crime on their Pacific Northwest property in September 2023. She now raises her two daughters while running a small hobby farm on 20 acres, learning to navigate life on her own while keeping her husband’s memory alive.

Sarah’s husband, Ryan, died unexpectedly during what should have been a routine medical procedure at the age of 39 in September 2023.

She is raising her three young children, while also loving her oldest son and granddaughter, in the Pacific Northwest, piecing together a life she never imagined facing.

Introduced through a mutual friend, Tanie and Sarah started a grief support group for widowed spouses, and in the process, found in each other the kind of friendship only grief can forge. They believe their late husbands had a hand in bringing them together—so they wouldn’t have to walk this path alone.

Through honest conversations about grief, motherhood, faith, anger, hope, and the sacred everyday moments that keep them moving, Still Standing is a space for widows, widowers, and anyone learning to live with loss.

Because even when everything changes, together—we’re still standing.
